My Everyday Cutlery Collection (2026): 5 Flatware Sets I Actually Use

Introduction

If you’ve ever shopped for flatware in the U.S., you already know there are endless options. From affordable everyday sets to luxury designer collections, it can be surprisingly difficult to decide what actually fits your lifestyle.

When I got married and started building our kitchen, I realized I didn’t want one large matching set. Instead, I wanted to collect pieces that served different purposes and that my husband and I would genuinely enjoy using every day.

Since I’m Korean, chopsticks are part of almost every meal I eat. That made it important for me to find flatware collections that included matching chopsticks, while also having beautiful forks, spoons, and knives for Western dishes. I also wanted a dedicated carving set for steak nights and special occasions.

Over time, I’ve collected flatware from several different brands, and each one has earned its place in our kitchen. Some are perfect for everyday meals, some make entertaining feel a little more special, and others remind me of home and my Korean heritage.

In this post, I’m sharing the five flatware collections I actually use, why I chose them, and what I’ve learned after living with them—not just displaying them—for years.

Laguiole Jean Dubost Carving & Bread Knife Set

I purchased this set in Korea several years ago, and I believe it was a limited-edition release. I haven’t been able to find this exact combination anymore, which makes me appreciate it even more. It includes a carving knife, carving fork, and bread knife, and it’s been part of my kitchen ever since I got married.

Why I Chose It

This set was a gift from my mom, and it’s one of the kitchen items that means the most to me.

She chose it because of its classic design and the reputation Jean Dubost has for quality craftsmanship. At the time, I didn’t realize how often I would end up using it, but it quickly became one of those tools I couldn’t imagine my kitchen without.

When I moved to the U.S., bringing this set with me wasn’t even a question. Even though it isn’t a full flatware collection, the combination of a carving knife, carving fork, and bread knife has been exactly what we need for everyday cooking and special meals alike.

What’s Included

This three-piece set includes:

  • Carving Knife
  • Carving Fork
  • Bread Knife

The carving knife and fork are perfect for slicing steaks, brisket, roast chicken, or any larger cut of meat. The fork keeps everything steady while the knife glides through the meat, making carving much easier than using a regular chef’s knife.

The bread knife is actually the piece I use the most. It slices through crusty bread without crushing the soft interior, and I use it just as often for tomatoes, cucumbers, and other fruits and vegetables with delicate skins.

What I Like Most

The first thing I noticed was how comfortable the knives feel in my hand. The handles have a gentle curve instead of being completely straight, which makes them feel secure and comfortable to hold, even when I’m carving larger portions.

The blades have also held their edge incredibly well. Whether I’m cutting a thick steak or a fresh loaf of sourdough, they stay sharp and require very little effort.

I also love the timeless French-inspired design. The ivory handles and traditional Laguiole details make the set feel elegant without being overly decorative. It’s one of those pieces that instantly makes the table look a little more special whenever we’re hosting family or friends.

What has impressed me most, though, is how well it’s aged. After years of regular use, there’s no rust, no loose handles, and everything still feels just as solid as the day I received it.

Anything I Don’t Like?

If I had to mention one downside, it’s that I always hand wash the knives.

That isn’t unusual for quality kitchen knives, but it does take a little more effort than simply putting everything in the dishwasher.

The carving knife is also incredibly sharp, so I always slow down when washing and drying it. I’d much rather spend an extra minute cleaning it carefully than accidentally nick my hand.

Other than that, I honestly don’t have any complaints.

How I Use It

The bread knife is by far the most-used piece in this collection. It comes out almost every day for baguettes, sourdough, sandwich bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, and just about anything with a firm exterior and a softer interior.

The carving knife and fork come out whenever we’re serving meat. Steak, brisket, roast chicken—you name it. They’ve become my go-to carving tools because they simply do the job better than any regular kitchen knife I own.

Would I Buy It Again?

Without hesitation.

I haven’t been able to find this exact three-piece set in the U.S., which honestly makes me appreciate it even more.

If anything ever happened to it, I’d gladly buy another Jean Dubost carving set. The quality has been outstanding, the design is timeless, and it’s one of those kitchen tools that I know I’ll continue using for many years.

Casa Bugatti Oxford Antique Flatware (Emerald Green)

Why I Chose It

This Casa Bugatti Oxford Antique set was another special piece passed down from my mom, and it’s one of the most unique flatware collections I own.

At the time, most of the flatware I came across had clean, modern designs. This one immediately caught my attention because it felt completely different. The emerald green handles, paired with the antique-inspired details, gave it a timeless look that felt elegant without being over the top.

I wanted a flatware set that could make an ordinary dinner feel a little more special, and that’s exactly what this collection has done. Even after using it for years, I still enjoy bringing it out and setting the table with it. It’s also one of those pieces that guests almost always notice, and I still get compliments on it every time someone comes over.

I don’t own the complete collection, but I have the dinner spoon, dinner fork, dinner knife, dessert spoon, and dessert fork. Honestly, I’ve never felt like I needed anything else. Those pieces have been more than enough for the way my husband and I use them every day.

What’s Included

I don’t own the full collection, but I have everything I actually use on a regular basis:

  • Dinner Spoon
  • Dinner Fork
  • Dinner Knife
  • Dessert Spoon
  • Dessert Fork

Out of all of them, I probably use the dessert spoon and dessert fork the most. Even without the complete collection, I’ve never felt like I was missing anything. These pieces have been more than enough for everyday meals, and I’ve never had a reason to buy the rest.

What I Like Most

The design is what drew me in from the beginning, and it’s still my favorite thing about this collection. The emerald green handles have so much character, and they instantly make the table feel more elegant without trying too hard.

I also really like the slightly thicker handles. They feel comfortable to hold, have a nice weight to them, and make the flatware feel well balanced.

One thing that has really surprised me is how well this set has held up over the years. My mom used it for more than ten years before passing it down to me, and after all that time, there are only a few light surface scratches from normal use. There aren’t any cracks, chips, or loose pieces, which really speaks to the quality of the craftsmanship.

Whenever I want the table to feel a little more special, this is still the flatware I naturally reach for.

Anything I Don’t Like?

There are only a couple of things worth mentioning.

First, it’s definitely one of the more expensive flatware collections I own. I also hand wash it because I want to keep it looking its best, which takes a little more time than simply putting everything in the dishwasher.

Since this collection has been in my family for quite a while, I’ve noticed that some of the decorative details on the handles have faded slightly over time. I honestly think that’s mostly because I haven’t always been as careful as I could have been.

The only other thing is that I don’t use it for quick, casual meals. The emerald green color is beautiful, but it naturally stands out more than neutral flatware, so it doesn’t always match every plate or bowl I own. I usually save it for dinners where I want the table to feel a little more polished.

How I Use It

This was actually the first flatware set I used after getting married, so it’ll always have a special place in my kitchen.

These days, I use it most when we’re having family over or inviting friends for dinner. It looks especially beautiful with Western dishes like pasta, steak, and risotto, and it instantly makes the table feel more thoughtfully put together.

Even after all these years, it’s still one of my favorite collections to use whenever I want a dinner to feel just a little more special.

Would I Buy It Again?

Definitely.

If I were buying another Casa Bugatti collection today, I’d probably choose one of the softer colors like Lilac, Gray, Taupe, or Onyx. I still love the emerald green, but those shades would blend even more easily with the rest of my dinnerware.

After using this collection for so many years, I can honestly say it’s been one of the best-quality flatware sets I’ve owned. It’s beautiful, incredibly well made, and has held up far better than I ever expected.

If you’re looking for flatware that feels timeless, elegant, and built to last, I think this collection is well worth considering.

Casa Bugatti Allegra Line

Why I Chose It

This Casa Bugatti Allegra set is the newest flatware collection in my kitchen, and it didn’t take long for it to become the one I use the most.

I bought it in Korea about two months ago because I wanted a simple, everyday flatware set that could handle both Korean and Western meals. Most flatware collections only include the basic dining pieces, but this one came with almost everything I was looking for.

My collection includes a dinner spoon, Korean chopsticks, dinner fork, dinner knife, dessert spoon, dessert fork, butter knife, and matching chopstick rests. Having everything in one matching collection makes setting the table feel effortless, and I never have to mix pieces from different brands.

Since I use chopsticks for almost every meal, having a collection that includes matching Korean chopsticks was a huge plus. Out of all the flatware I own, this is the set I reach for without even thinking about it.

What’s Included

This collection includes everything I need for everyday meals:

  • Dinner Spoon
  • Korean Chopsticks
  • Dinner Fork
  • Dinner Knife
  • Dessert Spoon
  • Dessert Fork
  • Butter Knife
  • Matching Chopstick Rest

I honestly use every single piece. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even dessert, there’s always something from this collection on the table.

One of my favorite things is that I don’t have to switch between different flatware sets depending on what I’m eating. Since it includes both Korean chopsticks and Western flatware, everything works together beautifully.

What I Like Most

The biggest reason I love this collection is how easy it is to use every day.

The ivory color is simple, timeless, and goes with practically every plate and bowl I own. Whether I’m using white porcelain, handmade pottery, or colorful dinnerware, it never looks out of place.

The pieces also feel really comfortable in my hand. They have just the right amount of weight without feeling heavy, and everything feels well balanced.

As someone who eats Korean food almost every day, I especially love having matching chopsticks included in the collection. It makes the whole table feel coordinated instead of mixing Korean chopsticks with Western flatware.

The spoon has a great depth for soups and stews, and the knife cuts surprisingly well. Whether I’m serving steak, chicken, or pork, it glides through everything with very little effort.

I also didn’t realize how much I’d appreciate the matching chopstick rests until I started using them. They keep the table looking neat while also keeping the utensils clean between bites.

Another huge bonus is that the entire collection is dishwasher safe. After owning several premium flatware collections that I always hand wash, this honestly feels like a luxury in itself.

Anything I Don’t Like?

Honestly, not really.

The price is definitely higher than most everyday flatware, but after using it every single day, I feel like it’s completely worth the investment.

If anything, I wish I had bought it sooner.

How I Use It

This has become my everyday flatware set.

I use it for almost every meal, whether I’m eating Korean food, pasta, steak, sandwiches, or even dessert.

Because the design is so clean and understated, it works with absolutely everything. It’s casual enough for everyday meals but still looks polished when we’re hosting family or friends.

Out of all the flatware collections I own, this is probably the one that spends the least amount of time sitting in the drawer.

Would I Buy It Again?

Without a doubt.

The design is timeless, the quality has been excellent, and the fact that it’s dishwasher safe makes it even more practical for everyday life.

I also think it would make a wonderful wedding or housewarming gift because the design is simple enough to fit almost anyone’s style.

If I ever decide to add more pieces, I’d love to pick up a few of the brighter colors like Light Pink, Light Blue, or Yellow Dragon. I still love the ivory set, but I think mixing a few colors together would make the table feel even more fun and personal.

Cutipol GOA Black & Silver

Why I Chose It

I bought my Cutipol GOA Black & Silver set shortly after getting married, and it had been on my wishlist for quite a while.

When I purchased it in Korea, the dessert fork was sold out, so I picked up everything else I needed: the dinner spoon, Korean chopsticks, dinner fork, dinner knife, dessert spoon, dessert knife, and butter knife. Even without the dessert fork, I never felt like the collection was incomplete. It had all the pieces I knew I’d actually use.

I chose the Black & Silver finish because I wanted something simple that would never go out of style. Unlike more decorative flatware, the GOA collection has a clean, understated look that works with almost every table setting. Whether I’m serving Korean food or Western dishes, it always feels like the right choice.

What’s Included

My collection includes:

  • Dinner Spoon
  • Korean Chopsticks
  • Dinner Fork
  • Dinner Knife
  • Dessert Spoon
  • Dessert Knife
  • Butter Knife

The only piece I’m still missing is the dessert fork, but honestly, I’ve never felt like I needed it. These are the pieces I use all the time, whether it’s a quick weeknight dinner or a meal with family and friends.

What I Like Most

The design is what made me fall in love with the GOA collection in the first place.

It’s simple, modern, and effortlessly elegant. There isn’t anything flashy about it, but somehow it makes every table look a little more refined.

I also love how lightweight it feels. The handles are very slim, but they’re surprisingly comfortable to hold and never feel awkward during a meal.

One thing I appreciate most is how versatile this collection is. It looks just as natural with Korean food as it does with pasta, steak, or salad, and it pairs beautifully with almost every plate and bowl I own.

The knife also deserves a mention. It cuts much better than I expected and handles everything from steak to chicken with ease.

Anything I Don’t Like?

The biggest downside is definitely the price. Building a complete Cutipol collection isn’t cheap, so it takes a bit of an investment.

The matte black resin handles also require a little more care than stainless steel. When I bought the set, the salesperson recommended not leaving the handles soaking in water for long periods because it could affect the finish over time. Since then, I’ve always hand washed them instead of putting them in the dishwasher.

The chopsticks also took a little practice. Their tips are much slimmer than traditional Korean metal chopsticks, which gives them a beautiful, elegant look, but they can feel slightly unfamiliar at first.

The only piece I still wish I had is the dessert fork. I also learned the hard way that the dessert spoon is tiny enough to slip right through a sink drain—I actually had to fish mine back out after dropping it while washing dishes!

How I Use It

This is another flatware collection that gets used almost every day.

The clean, minimalist design works with just about everything, so I never have to think twice about which flatware to use. It looks just as good for a simple weekday dinner as it does when we’re hosting guests.

Compared to my Casa Bugatti collections, the GOA line has a much more understated look. Whenever friends or family come over, someone almost always asks where it’s from or tells me how beautiful it is. It’s one of those designs that stands out in a very quiet, effortless way.

Would I Buy It Again?

Without a doubt.

There are plenty of replica versions of the GOA collection on the market, but after using the original, I personally don’t think they compare. The balance, proportions, and overall feel are what make Cutipol so special, and those details are hard to replicate.

If I ever expand my collection, I’d love to try the Cutipol BALI line next. But even after owning several premium flatware collections, the GOA Black & Silver set is still one of my favorites—and it’s a set I’d happily buy all over again.

Although I own several European flatware collections, I still wanted a traditional Korean spoon and chopstick set that felt just as refined and modern.

NOTDAM (Korea Brand)

Why I Chose It

After collecting several European flatware sets over the years, I wanted to add something that felt a little closer to home.

Since I use chopsticks for almost every meal, having a beautiful Korean spoon and chopstick set has always been just as important to me as owning high-quality Western flatware.

That’s what led me to NOTDAM. I loved how it combines traditional Korean brass craftsmanship with a simple, modern design. It still has the warmth and character of classic Korean tableware, but it also fits naturally with the modern dinnerware I use every day.

Another reason I enjoy using brass tableware is its long history in Korean dining culture. Traditional Korean brassware has been appreciated for generations because of its durability and timeless beauty. Brass is also known for its antimicrobial properties due to its copper content, although that’s not the main reason I use it. For me, it’s simply a beautiful material that’s well made and built to last.

Every time I set the table with this collection, it feels like I’m bringing a small piece of Korean tradition into my home. It’s one of those everyday things that quietly reminds me where I came from.

What’s Included

I own a 10-person set of NOTDAM brass spoons and chopsticks, although I only keep a few sets out for everyday use and store the rest until I need them.

This is the set I reach for almost every time I’m serving Korean food. Since the spoons and chopsticks are designed to match, the table always looks clean and coordinated without having to mix pieces from different collections.

What I Like Most

The first thing I noticed was the weight. Brass is naturally a little heavier than stainless steel, but this set feels nicely balanced. It has a solid, substantial feel without ever feeling too heavy.

The spoon has the perfect depth for soups, stews, and other Korean dishes, and the chopsticks are honestly the most comfortable ones I own. Compared to the chopsticks from my Cutipol and Casa Bugatti collections, these simply feel more natural to use because they were designed with Korean dining in mind.

I also love the warm brass finish. It’s completely different from stainless steel, and it gives the table a softer, more elegant look. Whenever I’m serving Korean food, I think it makes the whole meal feel even more beautiful.

Another thing I appreciate is how durable everything feels. Brass tableware has been used in Korea for generations, and it’s easy to understand why once you hold it in your hand. Every piece feels incredibly solid and well made.

One practical feature I didn’t expect to love so much is that it’s dishwasher safe. After hand washing several of my premium flatware collections, being able to put these in the dishwasher is surprisingly convenient.

Anything I Don’t Like?

There really isn’t much to complain about.

The only thing I’ve noticed is that brass tends to show water spots if it’s left to air dry. To keep everything looking its best, I usually dry each piece with a kitchen towel right after washing it.

It only adds a couple of extra minutes, but it’s a little more maintenance than my stainless steel flatware.

How I Use It

This is the spoon and chopstick set I use almost every day.

Whether I’m having rice, soup, stew, noodles, or any other Korean meal, this is almost always the first set I reach for.

One of the reasons I wanted a brass set is because traditional Korean tableware was historically made from brass. I’ve always wanted to bring that part of Korean dining culture into my own home. I haven’t invested in a full brass dinnerware collection yet, so starting with a high-quality spoon and chopstick set felt like the perfect place to begin.

I also enjoy using this collection whenever family or friends come over. It feels traditional without looking old-fashioned, and it always adds a warm, welcoming touch to the table.

Would I Buy It Again?

Without a doubt.

I think this would make a wonderful gift, whether it’s for parents, newlyweds, or anyone who appreciates Korean craftsmanship and thoughtfully made kitchenware.

Out of all the flatware I own, this collection probably has the most personal meaning to me. As a Korean living in the United States, it reminds me of the meals I grew up with and helps me stay connected to a part of my culture that I’ll always cherish.

Every time I use it, it brings back a little piece of home—and that’s something no other flatware collection in my kitchen can replace.

Final Thoughts

After using all five of these collections, I’ve realized that there really isn’t one “perfect” flatware set. Each one serves a different purpose, and that’s exactly why they’ve all earned a place in my kitchen.

Some are the ones I reach for every day, while others make family dinners and special occasions feel a little more memorable. As someone who enjoys both Korean and Western food, having a mix of different styles has allowed me to build a collection that truly fits the way my husband and I eat.

If I had to choose just one for everyday use, it would probably be the Casa Bugatti Allegra because of how versatile and practical it is. But honestly, I still enjoy using every collection I’ve shared in this post. Each one brings something a little different to the table, whether it’s timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, or simply the memories attached to it.

If you’re looking to build your own flatware collection, my biggest piece of advice is not to worry about buying one large matching set. Instead, choose pieces that fit your lifestyle and the way you actually eat. Over time, you’ll naturally build a collection that’s both practical and personal.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope sharing the flatware I actually use has been helpful. If you have a favorite flatware brand or collection that you think I should try next, I’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments.
